Keep everything in a single spot, and reinforce that over and over again.
Regularly used items such as keys should always be on the key hook, in the bowl by the door, etc.
Use a cork board, chalkboard, etc. to keep track of "To Do" lists. Things can be marked off as they are completed

Create rewards for when a task is complete. This helps to encourage the child to follow through
Give them a small notebook to carry around where they can keep track of to do lists, and other important information
that they have to remember
A pad of post it notes allows you, or the child, to create a visual reminder of important things that have to get done
Dry Erase markers can be used on bathroom walls and mirrors to leave important messages first thing in the morning.
Color Code Everything
A timer set with an alarm can make a child aware that he is "drifting" instead of concentrating on a task
